Watkins Glen June 5, 2010 Fire 6 Car

In the waning moments of the race. The number 6 car was having engine troubles. It made a pit stop and on the same lap caught on fire. It made it all the way around the track and stopped just past the bridge to the home-stretch. The driver baled out just before my camera started to roll. Myself and about 4 guys were standing on barrels to get a better vantage point.

I was there for that. Me and my dad where walking to the grand stands and he said "theres a car on fire". I look over and there was this, thanks for posting this!

@zorrgagg we probably walked by eachother. I was just coming from the grandstands and was about to cross the bridge when I saw the fire. I was the dad pushing two boys in a double running stroller. I walked the whole course that day.

I was flagging at the pit in for this race. The car was full involved by the time it went by me...what a smell!!!

@julia854 yea, it was burnt to a crisp!!!! i dont know how they will get the car ready for mid ohio in two weeks.

good catch - I was in the big grandstand for this, scary stuff. WTF was up with him trying to go back to the car to hit the suppression system?!?! lesson 1 - if you are luck enough to get out of a burning vehicle and there are no other humans inside - MOVE AWAY

i was there camping for this race down in the boot and you could see the huge black plume of smoke in the sky
