Same thing happens to me, I know it sounds stupid but put the disc you want in smash the top of the ps3 with your fist not to hard but hard enough all around and then press eject then try put the disc back in and it works for me but its quite annoying. if anybody knows the fix for this please tell me.

@corester123 could this be caused if I'm missing the connector for the ps3 and motherboard? because I bought a ps3 and its missing that and I dont want to pay if its not the problem

@ShiftyTheDon Thank you! it really works)).
-
did you fix it yet my ps3 doing the sam thing?
-
You fixe it yet im having the sam problems god
-
@ManchisMagician It doesn't matter what type of disc you put in, the problem he's showing is that it doesn't detect the disc at the entry door in general. And that's a 1st gen PS3 anyway, which plays all PS1 and PS2 games.

@faygoluvers mk bro, heres a fastball, i have also been repairing ps3s for a while now, but this is the first system i have had that after fixing ylod, the blu ray will not work, even when switching with A BRAND NEW one of the same model and everything, no ribbon is loose, it will flash blue, but never will it take in a disc, even on the new one, ive switched it out another time with another new one, again same thing, will not even except it half way in, then turn off and on, (aug 07 model) 40g

theres mostly likely a problem with your disk ribbon. this happend to me my ribbon ended up being ripped so i just bought a ribbon on ebay and fixed it myself:)

@Kingable5 I never completed the fix but I am very positive that the problem lies with defective BA888 or PWMx2 chips. This is unconfirmed.
