An "orange slide" is exactly what it says on the tin (an orange colored slide). I think the song has something to do with growing up, considering the fact that it was written for a show that was a weird tale about growing up... The animals/things referenced are supposed to represent the person who needs to grow up, I think... Oh, and that stuff isn't necessarily lost-in-translation. The lead singer likes to sing in English, and at least understands it. (Listen to the pillows song "Advice").
