On November 5, 2007, STS-120 films Nature's thunder storm producing spectacular display of lightning as impressive as to watching a firework show. This clip was made super slow at 5 fps (frame per second). Normal speed is at 29 fps.

  • 5 FPS is the correct label. One second of footage normally contains thirty frames (30 FPS), so this video is showing in six seconds what would normally be seen in one second. You could also label it as 1/6 Actual Speed.

  • Thank you Stoptherobots for explaining further about frame and time in a film clip. I think the layman's term that you gave "1/6 Actual Speed" simplifies the underlying essential idea in this clip.

  • Your correct apbasu. If I was to play the video only at 5fps, it would be extremely fast. But the video that I shown has been slowed down to 5 frames per second at normal viewing speed. So how do I label that?
