BUT where are your expansion/ control joints? saw cut them booo.... unless thats what the home owner wanted. put some cedar and grove joints in there be looking good. but still good job

I liked the look of cut lines and that's why I opted for this.

A hand float is ok if your trying to get a slury up to finish , but you should have at least one finishing trowel, to go over it, not two hand floats. A hand float tends to leave a thicker surface finish if that makes sense. a finishing trowel makes it cleaner. and is considered what you should use.

Thanks for your reply. I don't know if it matters that I'm in Minnesota where we have plenty of snow and ice to contend with. I wonder if maybe the not so smooth surface is safer given those hazards 5 months out of the year? I'm pretty sure that's why they 'broomed' it as a finishing touch creating small lines in the finish across the surface.

Quality I wish i could afford to pay all those men to work for me. Its best to have to many for insurance reasons (meaning if something went wrong had men to work on it. But how do you make any money with all those men? I counted 7 or more.

Great job Could have got the same look with the Fresno on poles. But by them

going over the surface the way they did. It compacted the surface more. There for a more durable concrete. In cold climates the book says leave surface open.

@ derbja34, to trowel finish something that is getting a broom finish is the worst thing you can do, unless you like the the look of a peeled top.

If you've never done this you wouldn't understand how physically demanding it is to rub out a pad in the direct sunlight.

I`ll say this for these guy`s,at least it dosen`t appear that they poured this driveway to wet or finished it to soon(wet) like 80% of the videos I`ve seen on this site.

There should be some expansion joints,along with false cuts(control joints) in this driveway.You are correct to use only floats and not steel trowel for finishing on exterior work,as steel trowels lock in the surface water which may cause spalling/peeling of the surface,especially in cold climate areas such as Minnesota.The rougher surface left behind by the mag floats will broom out if broomed as long as it is broomed in time.
