I've been cycling for a year and a half and thus far have only had a few bad experiences. Once involved getting hit by a car. it was sort of my fault, i was riding fast on the sidewalk to avoid cars and then i get to an intersection where a car rolls a stop sign. it was my fault, either way the guy drove away and i was sort of okay. i've changed since. taking up the lane is the safest thing to do.

P.s Im paranoid that while cars are passing me someone in a parked car will open a door

I ride a bike and give as much room to cars as possible, but to those who say use less congested roads, I want to get to places in a minimal amount of time just like you in your car. We're both vehicles. Just because I may be wearing lycra shorts (they're comfortable for longer distances, I don't care what you think I look like) doesn't mean I'm on a joy ride. People use bikes to get places.

This guy is a douche bag. OH BOY, let's buy expensive jerseys and a race bike to commute with. Hopefully he does get ran over, one less lycra clad wanna-be cyclist on the road.

Cyclist sometimes are sort of self indulgent. I've seen some riding on a local highway with 10-15 cars backed up, and there is a shoulder they could move to, which would make legal overtaking far easier.

Enough people getting pissed = road rage.
