More than 130,000 advertising professionals have lost their jobs in this Great Recession. Lemonade is about what happens when people who were once paid to be creative in advertising are forced to be creative with their own lives.

  • Seen the film a few times. Nice story, but what about the bills? What about health insurance? What about keeping a roof over your head while you're roasting coffee and designing the perfect packaging for your crazy, new joe? I feel like this movie is a glossy pitch on unemployment done by ad people for their portfolios.

  • @bd1976 No one said it was easy. I'm still freelancing in my old life so I can open a path to my new one. Sometimes, you have to make really hard choices like putting a mortgage payment on a credit card (guilty). All I know is I am done with working full time for someone else. I'd much rather call my own shots than have to rely on an employer's competence.

  • perhaps i missed it, but it looks to be that racial minorities are grossly under represented in this movie. by 0%.

i don't know if should feel empathy for these people because they lost employment, or because they are segregated from the rest of the diverse world.

to be fair i'm only going by the trailer.

and before the ever predictable, pond bathing redneck replies, "well you have to have a job first before you can lose one." i already beat you to it.

  • @Muszell I wish I could say you were wrong, but there are no racial minorities represented in this film. That is largely because advertising itself is lilly white. I wish that were different, but that is another film in and of itself.

  • uh, ok, first of all. this trailer makes it look like if you get laid off your life will become so much more wonderful. bullshit. you get laid off, you cant pay the bills, you become homeless.

    duh.

  • @oddmisfitout You're right. Some people do lose everything. This movie is trying to show people that it doesn't have to be that way.

  • @Bulldog22031 ohk, oh this video is 2 years old, i didn't notice, i thought it was recently released since the recession right now in 2011/12 seems much bigger than that of 2008/2009

  • @automatikred I posted that 2 years ago... my views have changed slightly.

  • @lookat2006 yeah, i second you bro. These BWANKERS and the AIPAC shits that control the US Government are responsible for sucking your economy dry. And the ad ideas of these 130k people helped these corrupt bastards grow bigger and sell more.

  • @Bulldog22031 wrong, advertising IS one of them. Just not through the way Ad Agencies. Advertising has some of the brightest minds. It is the corrupt environment of the ad agencies and their nexus with the media and corporate empires of a select few, that has resulted in these 130k getting dumped on their asses. They should not have chosen the comfortable environs of the ad agency when the going was good. Now they have no option. And it is for the best. More crowdsourcing, more small companies.

  • the world needs more small businesses not bigger corporates. the world needs more funny viral videos that sell grandma's bakery shop not more multimillion cola commercials. you get my drift?

  • great ideators should NOT work for dumbasses in servicing who wear suits and suck up to corrupt higher ups. ideas can help improve the world. you have ideas? you come to crowdsourcing. lots of small and medium businesses could use communication ideas. take down the big ad agency networks and big corporates who are really controlled by a very small group of people. you know who "they" are, yes you do, you have been sucking up to them, knowing about their corruption but keeping silent for your job

  • yeah that's what you get for sucking up to corporates and HR bitches, now come work in Crowdsourcing and bring down the tall towers of corporate corruption that the Ad Agency Networks are. Join the meritocracy revolution of Crowdsourcing. If you know nothing about it, then start off by joining prizes (.) org

  • Really shocked at the pessimistic reactions on this film, one of the few quality productions that documents real people's struggles w/finding what truly matters in their life over what others think should matter to them. We are at an unprecedented moment in history where the means to self-employment have never been greater, yet universities & corporations remain still mired amidst outdated ideas of indentured servitude. Nothing worth doing ever came easy but the rewards are worth the fight. Try.

  • @LemonadeMovie Would you please explain a little more clearly for me why your defense that advertising being "lilly white" is an acceptable "bottom line" type explanation for for there being no ethnic minorities in this film. And could you do that particularly against the statistical backdrop of minorities, particularly African American men, being disproportionately impacted by the current unemployment crisis in America. Thank you!
