John Henry Oliver (aka) Jimmy Oliver was a legendary Philadelphia Jazz tenor sax man (the original Little Big Man) that influenced many of the Jazz greats. Jimmy and my brother Albert Logie Brown were lifelong friends. They introduced me to Jazz at a very early age. The Golden Strip Part 1 is a must for the Jazz lover. The documentary is a passionate journey along Columbia Avenue the great Philadelphia jazz center of the forties, fifties and early nineteen sixties. During this time period The Golden Strip or Cecil B. Moore Avenue, as it is known today was a Mecca for jazz musicians. Oh! That's Jimmy in the video, and the kid at the end - is me on the Golden Strip. The captivating vocalist is Ms. Ella Gahnt. Take care, and ENJOY JAZZ! Sincerely, Cullen Knight
