Do you not use double/single check valves? To stop back siphon.

@101nagen Hello; yes... single and double check valves do prevent back siphon,but in most older homes there was no backflow preventer put on the water main coming into the house and for this reason they started to make vacuum breakers on frostfree faucets.In new construction it is mandatory for dual check valves with an atmospheric vacuum breaker to be installed on the water main and the feed water line to the hot water furnace.Thanks for your comments and enjoy the weekend!!! i have a problem where im leaking out the top of the spigot. so the frost free vaccuum part.. a seal inside has broken. does thia mean i have to replace the whole thing? it doesnt look like it can pop out to be fixed? any suggestions???

@BigG99 Hello there.You should not have to replace the entire faucet if you can purchase the vaccum breaker by itself,but chances are you will have to buy the exact same outside faucet and rob the vaccun breaker from it. Most vaccuim breakers have to be unscrewed out of the faucet.You will require a pair of needle nose pliers to do so.Not a big job.Good luck with your project. Leave your hose on over the winter is sually the culprit.Thanks for your comments and let me know how you got along...Al

Great video, thanks. Now I know *exactly* why I'm replacing my spigot(s) this spring. The grade, vacuum breaker, and reason to disconnect the hose are all things I missed. Better late than never, right? :)
