  • Atelectasis is overemphasized as a cause of fever. Generally it is not the cause.

    Fever in the first 24 hours is usually not from infection but from tissue trauma (see reference b) above. Alternatively it could be due to malignant hyperthermia but that would start in the OR or PACU
