When NATO air strikes over Yugoslavia begun in March 1999, Yugoslav security forces intensified their operations in Kosovo. They were grave violations of International Humanitarian Law, within days the largest single refugee exodus in Europe for 50 years began as hundreds of thousands of Kosovo's Albanians fled to safety in neighbouring countries. Massive relied efforts were soon underway to support people stay with host families or sheltering in camps and collective centres. Tracing services search for the missing and help refugees contact relatives abroad, psychological support provided comfort, especially to children. The signing of an accord in June 10th at Kumanovo ended the air campaign and made a way for the deployment of an international security force into Kosovo, the refugees followed in this way. (...)
