  • The most powerful political mind around, and willing to speak it. In my view also the best Prime minister the UK never had. A man too honest & too forthright compared to the career politicians allowed to take over the parties, of both sides. His prediction of the problems arising in the worlds 'gamblers anonymous' oriented economic system have proved spot on. If only there were more so called 'leaders' with this amount of integrity, intellect, humanity and guts to speak out.

  • @bapyou Part 2: In actual Mao China there was a systematic, Neo (or maybe even classical) Malthusian kill off, the reason being Mao thought China had to many Chinese people in it (I happen to think this is the most likely reason for Anthony *Wedgewood* Benn judging him the greatest man of the 20th century). This isn't really a controversial point, it is mainline, mainstream history. If you want to challenge it, then go right ahead, but you should probably bring some sources along.

  • @bapyou Part 1: So exactly how many people did he kill? I used the 40 million because it was a very conservaive figure.

I think it's telling that you'v gone from defending Mr Benn to apologising a scoundrel like Mr Benn to apologising for a mass murderer like Chairman Mao. You don't neen to compare Mao's China with anywhere out of China - you just need to compare it with Pre Mao China. There may have been ocasional food shortages in pre Mao China, but not the systematic killing of Mao China.

  • @RicoRichmond "Mao killed, at least, 40 million people."

In its effort to implant the fear of communism in the western world, the right wing have thrown around numbers for decades. It is one means capitalists use to retain power. (I've read right-wing sourced figures up to 200 million.)

The truth is many more Chinese starved to death before Mao. After the Great Leap Forward, far fewer died.

Anyway, China's case is not comparable with developed countries. They are different entities.

  • @theact3k3

and he's right in every single one of them. He's what the bbc and itv and sky don't want you to hear

  • @RicoRichmond Unlike 'heightsgreen', the pompous clown, and 'bapyou' the (self identified) vicious fool.

  • A general note to all comers - '... if your not a socialist you don't understand what's going in the world...' arrogance, no? Given what he's saying, in effect 'agree with me, of you don't know what's going on in the world' it would seem to me not a controversial issue - yes. However if anyone wants to take issue with me, please say something involving facts, logic or reason, if you want me or anybody else to take you seariously.

  • @bapyou I asked you what you meant by it on the stream, you did not respond, implying that you agree with me. If that wasn't what you meant then why didn't you calrify it at the time?

Nonwithstanding, if that's not what you meant, what did you mean? Tony Benn has described Mao as the greatest man of the 20th century. Mao killed, at least, 40 million people. Do you want 40 million of your own people wiped out, is that what you meant by saying you wanted some of Mr Benn's arrogance?

  • @RicoRichmond Rico, Rico, Rico. My liitle bitch fan boy. I did not write "my own country could use someone with his brand of arrogance' "

What I wrote, my little bitch fan boy, was this:

"my own country could use someone with his brand of "arrogance." "

Educated people, Rico, people who read, Rico, understand that, in this context, the use of quotation marks denotes an opposite meaning for the quoted word.

Cheers, Rico. Send me some more of your love notes. I miss you.

  • @bapyou '...my own country could use someone with his brand of arrogance' - So you are agreeing with we he's arrogant, no?
