This is a tips video on how to shoot 3D pictures on the Sony DSC-HX100V. There are three different modes that you can use: (1) 3D Still Pictures, (2) 3D Sweep Panorama, (3) Sweep Multi-Angle. Several people asked me how to do the multi-angle shot from the full review. In this video, I re-created the shot and walk you through the basic steps that I used.

+This video was created with the Sony DSC-HX1 camera using its built-in mic's.
+The setting was indoors.
+No filters or plug-ins were used on the video.

When using 3D mode, you'll get two different files: the JPG file is used for preview; the 3D image is stored in an MPO file. There's a cool piece of software that you can use to open/modify these files. You can even make your own 3D images with it. Plus, it's free. The link is below.

  • Hey, I've read that we can take 49.2 megapixels photos with sweep panorama, how exactly can we do that? Thanks for your reviews, they are really helpful...

  • @oumzj - You can shoot a large panoramic image by going into the panorama menu, then:

Press [Menu] button, Change 'Panaorama Image Size' to [HR] for high resolution, then hold the camera in the portrait position (turn it sideways - the screen will rotate). Then, shoot your panoramic image. Hope this helps.

  • You can select the LCD screen or the viewfinder as your confirmation screen when shooting. The display will also switch automatically to viewfinder when you bring it close to your eyes, and to the LCD screen when you move it away from your eyes.

Each time you press the FINDER/LCD button, the screen will switch in the order .

1 Auto 2 Only LCD 3 Only Viewfinder

  • @leoncroitoru - Thank you, thank you...and...thank you. :)

  • You can press the button to the right of the viewfinder to switch between the LCD and viewfinder

  • @epicsaintjarod - Thanks. Another viewer (leoncroitoru) commented that it is actually a three way selection mode, when pressing the LCD/Finder button. Thank goodness, I can stop freaking out about the screen turning off, lol.

  • I Just got mine today :)...

  • Can you take more vids about this camera, please? :)

    Your vids are soooo good.

  • i get my gamera(sony hx 100v)

  • @FluffyBoy32 - If you're shooting in AVCHD [at any quality] you're shooting 60fps (US version, which is double NTSC). You get 30fps if you switch to MP4 mode (from menu, go to the bottom icon then navigate to 'Shooting Settings' and switch over to MP4). You may want MP4 if you are uploading video directly to YouTube because the 60fps is overkill. I shoot my video in AVCHD with the [PS 28M settings] which is 60 frames progressive.
