Republic of China 100 Years Anniversary - Republic of China Armed Forces Video (Taiwan)

The Republic of China on Taiwan celebrates its 100 years anniversary of foundation in 2011, which was founded in mainland China in 1911. The nation recovered Taiwan from Japanese colonial rule in 1945. In 1949, due to loss of Chinese civil war to the communist, the regime re-located to Taiwan, where it remains till today.

The Republic of China Armed Forces (中華民國國軍） encompass the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Military Police Force of the Republic of China (ROC) (commonly known as Taiwan). It was originally the National Revolutionary Army before being renamed as the Republic of China Armed Forces in 1947 due to the implementation of the Constitution of ROC.

Until the 1970s, the military's primary mission was to retake mainland China from the communist People's Republic of China (PRC) through the Project National Glory.

The military's current foremost mission is the defence of the islands of Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu against a possible military invasion by the People's Liberation Army of the People's Republic of China, which is seen as the predominant threat to the ROC in the ongoing dispute over the political status of Taiwan.

@greenday9799 the mainland has got help from USSR and Russia and look how far that got them. Their economy was not competitive at all and is still lagging behind everybody else despite all the supposed "assistance".

Contacts with the mainland should be increased. While the opposition in the ROC fears being dependent on the mainland people forget to realize that main people from the ROC come in contact with people with the PRC may give people in the PRC ideas on how they should reform the PRC. Clearly this may be unsettling to the CCP.

The ROC should be the example to the mainland what a civil society should be. Respect for human rights, democracy and an advanced economy. You can't have any of them if you are missing one. The CCP is deluding itself if it thinks the mainland can develop into an advanced economy without humand rights or "human rights" as they call it and not giving people a voice.
