  • For those wondering why the otters and the monkeys share an enclosure, I recommend visiting the website of the San Diego Zoo, or perhaps searching the internet for, I dunno, "multi-species enclosures"?

  • They were NOT fighting, they were playing. I saw video many years ago of a female otter about this size fighting for her life against an entire pack of wolves and she was moving at speeds that would put Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan to shame. She made it, too, fought a running battle to her den across 100+ yards of open snow. I've also seen ferrets in serious fights against dogs, they do NOT roll on their backs in a real fight, only in play.

This was downright cute and nobody was in any danger.

  • Would've been good except for the giggling retard in background.

  • Ah yes, the evolutionary precursor to human and ferret =P

  • They've since been separated on that side. It's unfortunate since that same baby monkey is playing with a different set of otters in the above video.

  • That's actually a Allen's Swamp Monkey and a Spot-necked otter. They are both from Africa.

  • It's clearly playing, and half hearted at that, they stop once and just sit there together looking around like ferrets do when they're low on batteries.

  • I work with these guys and they were playing. They play all of the time (by the way, that was an african spotted-necked otter and an allen's swamp monkey). These species live together in the wild and do well together in captivity. Obviously, they enjoy interacting and the public loves it!

  • looks like they were just playing cause they would move faster if it was a fight:P

  • yeah...shouldn't they be in seperate exhibits?
