You're darn right it is! And that's the way our country works - if there was no money in it, what incentive would there be to develop the technology? That's what entrepreneurship is all about! Are you willing to invest billions of dollars with no possibility of recouping your investment? Doubt it.

Why can't we be self-sustaining in the interim regarding the transition from oil to alternative energy? What's more, all of these "alternative energy sources" are "interim" in and of themselves; the sun doesn't shine 24/7 nor does the wind blow 24/7. A mere "Titan" battery can NOT retain in the downtime the full capacity of energy needs. Meanwhile, liberals like Ted Kennedy don't want to see their backyards "polluted" with windmills in sight. What about the birds?! T.Boone is a fool and traitor

I don't understand why everyone is so fixated on batteries - the wind blows night and day, and for solar, if it takes some of the "pressure" off the grid and provides a way to eliminate electicity production that is not as clean (coal), then we are that more ahead of the game.

Your response digresses from my fundamental point, but I applaud your optimism. But the wind does NOT blow night and day, 24/7, unless you are in the Himalayas. People need transit ability. Unless every subway, bus, truck, or car is equipped with a windmill on their roofs... C'mon! Solar power is minimal at best. I want to get off of oil myself, creddy, but what you propose is proposterous. This is why our economy is crippled! Head's up: the future is H2O based. Spread the word, my friend! Think

Rigel - first, let's not be calling names here - at least the Pickens Plan is a PLAN! Most of our leaders don't even have that much. The 2nd prong of the plan is to use natural gas for tranportation - to get off oil - this is a proven techhnology that already exists and we have an abundance of it. Use Wind power to reduce the dependence on gas and coal-generated electricity - WHEN THE WIND BLOWS (which may not be 24/7, but is not limited like solar). It is far from preposterous.
