From the public domain film: Crowded Out: This is an excellent film. It is well produced, filmed and written. Unfortunately, this problem still happens today. When inadequate funds are given to education, classes get larger and many non required subjects and cultural activities are dropped. Structural improvements are put on hold, causing building to deteriorate. Creative Commons license: Public Domain

  • Great movie. I am a teacher and it is disheartening to see that things have not changed one bit, and this was in the 1950's yet. It is true, teachers are not allowed to teach using thier own talents, but are stifled by city and state standards that are not necessarily beneficial. And yes, the constant overcrowding and loss of prep time.

  • im only 16 and my history classroom has 50 students in it, and the thing is they get byt the law by having two teachers take turns turns teaching, and of them is in there 70's and the other is in the their mid 50's, we dont learn much because were so large and the class is underfunded

  • @ 23:46 What is that?

  • I teach a school in my garage!!! well its for people who cant afford to go to a school,so this one is like free! but anyways i have 42 kids and its so hard because its like having TWO classes!

  • This reminds me of my 1st period.

It's an AP Literature class so you'd expect it to be less crowded since the class itself is tough and the students need more attention.

We have about 40 people in the class. Our seating chart is on a first come first serve basis. We practically spill out of the classroom.

  • That's sad. "Children lost in the crowd."
