  • @clevbrowner , The reason it is a violation is because the setter is touching the net (possibly the top as well, although it doesn't matter in this case) while physically playing the ball. if it touches before or after but not during, it is clean.

  • Actually you will not find that rule in the book. The officiall is never suppose to change the rule if the 2 coaches agree on it.

  • From an offical perspective, these new rules just adds to the subjectivity of the offical. It use to be clear cut, if you touch the net near where the ball was in play it was a foul. Now it is left up to the interpretation of the official. With 2 touch and lift calls, there is already way to many judgement calls in volleyball.

  • Can anyone explain why the first play after the "Setter Touch" is illegal under the new rules? He appears to brush the bottom of the net while going up to jump set, but accroding to the new rules, I don't see that as a violation.

  • We won 27-25 last week-end because of this...

  • I was happily content just viewing youtube until I saw these new volleyball rules, now I have to help save the game I love. It's not a rule unless two teams accept it. Both teams just have to say "NO" Tell the ref to call it like it's supposed to be called, or not to Ref. Nobody has to follow this crap. Don't be fooled! V-Ball will become a garbage game. What, now we can do belly slams,? crack ankles? take an elbow through the net? There's ONE RULE.... "Stay off the Net."

  • I agreee..

    this sucks

  • He touched the top band of the net, but he was not part of the play. And, he didn't disturb the play. Therefore, no fault according to the new rules.

  • in that segment, they are only focusing on faults of the attacker in the net, not the blocker.

  • Dit is toch geen volleyballen meer!!!
