  • Someone has no soul.

  • Bach is probably my favorite cello composer, and this guy plays everything beautifully!!!

  • this is my favorite part of any of the suites! I've played them all (not anywhere this kind of perfection of coarse) but there is just something about it.

  • @perla7812 That cello was bought by a Japanese museum (I think) for about 20 million dollars. If you can afford to pay even more than that, then you can get a cello like this anywhere.

  • @celliguy2000 I couldn't agree more! I so relaxed and flowing! It's simply incredible!

  • @Cayo255 Besides, it is not the tool but how you use it. I doubt that the gentleman would gain too much musically speaking if he played the emperor's instrument instead of one within the budget reach of ordinary mortals.

  • Bravo¡¡¡

  • He got it from the former owner, who told in his testament that this cello could not be owned by anyone else than Slava Rostropovich

  • Yes! Napoleon tried it, because he wanted to see how he could hold a cello and asked

"How the hell can you hold this?!"

and the current owner wined "Siiir" to the Emperor because he was afraid Napoleon let the instrument fall.

Finally, you can see the traces of Napoleon's spurs on the side of this instrument!

  • It is the DuPort Strad, valued at $20 million USD, and is considered to be the best existing cello in the world.
