Mead is a wine made from primarily honey. Adding fruit to the mead can add great flavours, rendering it what is called, "Melomel". This is my first attempt at making mead. Thanks to Hogedruk for providing the honey used in this batch. I was also inspired by immolateus to use oranges and raspberries. Mead takes quite a long time to make. I will be documenting all the steps along the way, and possibly by the fall, we might be able to finally give it a whirl.

  • @420srhrings I mean I repeat this step every week till my airlock stops bubbling. Am I doing it wrong?

  • @420srhrings Oh, don't repeat it every week. That's not necessary. ONce after major fermentation, then maybe again after all fermentation is done.

  • Hey Craig I started a mead this month on the first. Separated the fermenting mead from the sludge at the bottom after a week. Did I mess up by doing this? I am very new to this whole home brew stuff I have always done this after a week I separate the sludge at the bottom and let it keep fermenting I delete this step every week is that not the way I do it? I need ur help l

  • @420srhrings Normally you rack your mead to a second fermenter when it's almost done fermenting. You didn't ruin it. You might decide to rack it again when it's totally done fermenting.

  • @thegentlearts Man don't you get it yet mate? You're supposed to tell your wife that your brews suck so she won't drain the supply. LOL.

  • Great bloopers! I should start putting more bloopers into my vids more often as well. Hope it turns out like you wanted.

  • Hi Craig, Nice I will be fallowing this series, I have never made Mead but It looks like its easy and will be tasty, Cheers My Friend, Mark

  • The oranges also help to up the PH of the honey, which creates a better environment for the yeast to live and EAT!

  • Can you use camden tablets instead of pasturzing?

  • Hey Craig I started my bochet mead last night pitches re yeast and everything just have to post the next video

  • I'm not sure if everyone knows this, but when you make a mead always make sure to get honey without preservatives in it. The preservatives can sometimes kill the yeast and can also give your mead a strange taste. Just a heads up!

  • excellent, thanks for the vid Craig. and i love the bloopers too lol
