Title: Requiem
Dancer: Nimue of Banat Casablanca
Song: "Path" by: Apocalyptica
Style: Fusion Bellydance
Place: Secret Garden Hafla, Macomb, IL
Notes:
This is my first solo performance, not counting the one I did for anime central 2006. This is not a professional dance by any means. It's just my emotions coming out in dance form. To me it was more about the symbolism behind each step, rather than the execution of those steps; hence the slouching and strange expressions. Plus, I was really nervous!

Thanks: Banat Casablanca Tribal Bellydance Troupe, you ladies rock! Anne, for supporting me in my project. Scott, for driving really fast to get there before showtime, and hugs. Chris, for being really funny. Mikey the Mighty, for visiting and driving Chris over. Shawn and Julie, for making it a date. Emily, Charlie, Anthony, and Mike, for taking time to go the show.
For: Jon. What the hell, man?! What the hell.
Very nice dancing and routine. It would have been nicer to see some traveling moves in this.

You don't have to but most choreographs add traveling moves to break up the routine of standing in place for so long.
It also helps keep the audience engaged when they are not used to watching belly dance. I notice that a lot from where I am (belly dance is just starting to emerge), they are all 'oh she is moving now'. lol

hehe, that's true. i remember a workshop with jasmine jahal where she said to keep the audience surprised with unexpected moves.
and i'm so glad bellydance is emerging everywhere!
