The 302nd only used 3 versions of the spit (mk v, mkix and mkxvi), and this one is if i am correct the first one they used, which is the Mk V. The mk v used the Rolls royce Merlin 45 engine, the supercharged V12.
@eclipse245 I'm almost certain that would have to be the Merlin as the Rolls (in later WWII models) had a supercharger and there would be a huge cowl induction just below the engine at the front.

Rolls Royce made the Merlin. They were not two different engines. Early Spitfires used a 12 cylinder, liquid cooled Rolls Royce Meriln II.
