I have a dutch accent and damn this is hard to learn :/ I pronounce words correctly but it just doesn't sound american lol

I understand American accent very well when I listen to standard American accents as in this video or academic lectures , but when I listen to a movie or an American series or any kind of casual conversation , I get lost, feel dumb and end up embarrassed . So what should I do ?

I am an American and I've always been curious at how other cultures hear our accents. I actually thought that we didn't have accents, but that's pretty ignorant on my part. This video helped me see this at last! It's very interesting to hear what we actually do, and understand better why some people have trouble speaking it.
