Ulani, Malia, & Keanu

A couple friends and I fostered three shepherd mix puppies - Ulani, Malia, and Keanu - from the local animal shelter. They contracted parvovirus from the shelter before we picked them up. Ulani started developing symptoms first and was taken back to the shelter and humanely euthanized on May 27. Malia developed symptoms next and was humanely euthanized on May 28. Keanu developed symptoms on May 30 and was taken back to the shelter and humanely euthanized. There is a treatment for parvo, but it's expensive and it doesn't always work. Even if it does work, a lot of the puppies stay sickly for the rest of their lives. Our pups were only a little over a month old when they had to be put to sleep.
