HYANNIS, MA Man hurt when boat hits rocks in Hyannisport (06-02-10)

HYANNISPORT — A male boater was injured in waters off Hyannisport last night when his boat rammed into a cluster of rocks, according to Hyannis Fire Department officials.

The man was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with facial injuries, Hyannis Deputy Fire Chief Dean Melanson said.

The injured boater was alert and speaking with rescue crews, Melanson said.

The first report of the crash came in shortly before 9:40 p.m.

The man was still in his boat, about 150 yards from shore, when rescue crews arrived, Melanson said.

The fire department used its Boston Whaler to pick him up. No other boats or people were involved in the accident off Dale Avenue, Melanson said.
