@violonistchris You must be kidding... right??

@AddictedToAndrea Couldn't agree more. Rabin owns this piece!

I don't know, it's sure not bad playing at all! I wish I could play one note as well as Kogan plays! Need to work on my bowing and vibrato :)

My My, who cares if he made a mistake: this man is more entitled than anyone to make a mistake: For i know of no other violinist who takes such charge of his instrument with utter utter confidence of sound. He is nearly Hefitz equal, and yet he surpasses Hefeitz and all with his technical ability at times.

Until the fast Csardas section Kogan's playing is still beautifully controlled and this video can't be called an 'edited version' only because the general tuning pitch has been changed to a normal 'A'. Obviously there were no other takes to choose from.
Thanks for correcting the pitch!

i m really sure that the concertmaster of this orchestra could have played it far more better than kogan here ....he s amazing violinist but this is not even close to his best

Er ist der absolute Meister aller Klassen! Punkt.
We are watching the edited version. Without seeing the original, it is hard to say if it was Kogan or the editing operation that produced the intonation issue. The uploader "pazusheeta" mentions that he/she has adjusted the playback speed and the audio from another source.

Generally a remarkable Leonid Kogan performance but was shocked to hear some intonation issues in the final vivo section including uneven spiccatos and the entire 6:45 mark and beyond. Bravo Maestro!

@GubuZ06 I think this performance is from a fairly late stage of his career (late 70s or early 80s), probably wasn't at his prime technically. I still love his overall interpretation of the piece though.
