The final episode in Cosgrove Hall's adaptation of TRUCKERS is open ended, leaving our Nomes wondering what to do next. Please if you enjoyed this video, rate it, leave a comment and maybe we can convince Cosgrove Hall that there's enough interest for a DVD set or something similar. Hope you all enjoyed the series!

Terry Pratchett's TRUCKERS

Truckers is a stop motion animated series, an adaptation the first book of Terry Pratchett's The Bromeliad trilogy, produced in the United Kingdom by Cosgrove Hall for TV, then released on VHS, though edited together into a feature length film. Dreamworks has been rumored to be working on a new feature length adaptation of Truckers, so I urge you to enjoy this piece of television history from 1990.

Starred Paul McGann's lesser known but equally talented brother Joe McGann as Masklin, Brian Trueman (famous for his narration work on Cosgrove Hall's other shows such as Cockleshell Bay and as Stiletto in Danger Mouse) as Dorcas, Debra Gillett (recently appeared on Doctor Who as Rita Connolly in 'The Idiot's Lantern') as Grimma, Rosalie Williams (Mrs. Hudson in the Sherlock Holmes TV serials from 1984-94) as Gran'ma Morkie and John Jardine as Torrit.

  • Diggers and Wings were not made due to Thames TV (who commissioned Cosgrove Hall to make this) losing their ITV franchise in 1992. CH made 2D adaptations of "Wyrd Sisters" and "Soul Music", but they were shown on Channel 4 several years later. It's a real shame, because this was probably the best stop-motion work they did. As far as I know the VHS version is complete, but the epiosdes are edited into an unbroken whole.

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks for taking the time to put this up.

I'd be interested in finding out, on the video release(which I have), were the episodes all complete or were they edited down?

  • So glad i found this. Took me right back. Thanks for uploading!

Brought back some memorys. Amazing that this was made in the early 90's... good special effects and modelling even as far back as that.
