I've been around the world, and I don't really see us, the US, as trying to make the world like us. We go to other countries, for example Italy, and we don't expect them to start acting American. But, we want to keep acting like Americans. We don't merge, we don't become Italians, we stay Americans-in-Italy. You get enough of us doing that, and the Italians start getting annoyed. Some parts of Italy just aren't Italian anymore - and it's our fault. What they really mean is, stay home.

I hope you get to travel Curt. The travel bug was ignited in me when my parents dragged us kicking and screaming overseas when I was 13. We weren't going to Disneyland and that's all we cared about. But boy did another world open up to us. To me in particular. Suddenly my world had expanded, yet it was just out of reach as we had to come home. I hold my arms outstretched and I'm always heading in the direction of seeing and experiencing more (even if just in my heart). Btw, well said Curt.
