So far I had to buy a new antenna for DTV and new cable wire and tried to different cable boxes, I do get so channels like ch 11 and 13, but the rest are so poor and have to keep scanning the converter box , this system really sucks and I will have to purchase cable tv very soon, Why did they do this in the first place? is the cable company behind this?

new boxes will have RFID type 'traceable' technology thus making it easier for the TV liscencing people get onto u if u not paying ur liscence.. there are also spiritual 'dampners' that are now more efficient in the digital form ...as with plasma tv's...but i doubt most people will beleive that...depends on how awake they are

I have my local channels in HD and not in HD. Some commercial run in 4:3 and don't fill my screen? I know what you mean.

No, I just rent Comcast's HD STB. If you don't use cable than you would need either Satellite, Fios, or the converter box.

I guess I expect to see some more commercials in 4:3 despite being on an HD channel, because DTV day did not mean that programming would be required to be broadcast solely in HD.

I have cox cable but they were saying in this ad that you get more channels with the digital converter box. I was wondering if it was worth canceling my cable service and just getting a box for 4 of my T.V.s
