It doesn't show up in this 'montage', but the reason why Ben Mears can't properly close the door of his jeep from the outside is because the door has a mechanism to close the door from the inside, which one can see early on in the production, when Ben Mears gets into his jeep at night outside the Marsden House.

@thrashitupX I don't quite get your tampon comment, However this is exactly how a vampire should look. I was seven years old when this film first came out and it scared the holy shit out of then, Still today some scenes still have that impact.
