This video is a tribute (with statistics embedded) to my late wife, Mary, who died of a brain disease called depression in 2003. This disease also took my brother, Jeremy. I hate that I had to make two of these videos, but if it helps others, so be it.

  • I am terribly sorry for your loss. Was her depression not treated.

  • Mary's depression was treated with 6 different kinds of medication, alternative therapy (breath work, meditation, etc.), peer support groups, a psychologist, a psychiatrist, a social worker, hospitalization, out-patient care, electro-convulsive therapy (ECT), etc., etc., etc.

  • I lost my husband in 2007 to suicide after a brief struggle with Clinical Depression. This is a beautiful tribute to your Mary...thank you for speaking out and helping educate everyone to the brain disease we so flippantly call "depression"...you are truly making a difference!!

  • I am so very sorry for your loss....no family should have to live with the aftermath of losing a loved one to suicide your family and your precious Mary are in my prayers ...thank you for sharing your story

  • If our brains did not decrease in dopamine as we get older this would not happen.

  • she was beautiful.

  • My boyfriend kill himself 2 years ago he had bipolar I get depressed too. depressions suck..

  • And people who care. I know with me a lot of people don't understand it so I get yelled at a lot of times which it's probrably them frustrated because they can't help me but that to me feel like they're shunning me so at times I wish I could just fall asleep and not wake up and feel like I'm doing the world a favor. If it weren't for my three beautiful nieces and God I would have been gone years ago. I hope that they eventually find a cure for this curse which is excactly what it is :(

  • Speaking from personal experience of someone who's bipolar/depressed it's like an emotional hell/rollercoaster and it takes a toll on the mind and body not knowing from day to day what the mood is. I feel really bad for this family and hope that I don't follow suit with my aunt's mistake. When you're deep in depression it's like being in quick sand you keep sinking and nobody can see through the smiles how much you are sinking so it's hard for us to see there's help out there and people

  • I heard that some types of severe depression they have done operations, but I'm sure its still experimental.
