This huge rapid on the Clearwater River is the last major obstacle to the Chinook salmon as they migrate up the Fraser River system. The Clearwater River plunges over this 8 meter high slope not far from the outlet of Clearwater Lake. The rapid is navigable by kayak, but only at low water...there is a wall of water about 10 feet high at the bottom with the risk of being sucked under with no possibility of rescue, much like a weir.
