These videos of yours just keep getting better mate. Looked like a fantastic day to me and some very familiar B & C series engine sounds. Good to see such a strong club for these old Farinas.
Nice work!

Just watching this and waiting on Reg Varney and an old London bus to drive by with Blakey shouting!! We had a green Morris Oxford when I was really little, can just remember the big red seat in the back (I was VERY little). We had a Wolseley 6 after that, then 2 Maxis, a Montego and 2 Rovers. Dad kept buying British until the end!

These cars really are extremely beautiful collectibles.

When I was a kid, I went to U.K. with my mother on her first trip back since moving to the states. I'm a car (saloon) nut. Have been as far back as I remember. As we sailed up the river coming into Liverpool, I can remember staring up at the docks along the banks at the parking lots. All I could see were dozens of these and Ford Zephyrs, Vauxhaul Pa Crestas!!!!! The were freaking beautiful. Did petrol go up that much over there that no one could afford to drive a big 6 cyl sedan?

superb video . there were better colour schemes on cars back then i thought . i'm nearly 48 so fortuneately can remember , the a60's and farina's on the road . i own up to wrecking a 1968 registered a60 cambridge , banger racing when i was younger. ONLY DID THE ONE THOUGH . they've got a good engine in them and they'r built like tanks . that's why they'r dubbed the banger drivers favourite. but sadlly , if we look at the other side of the coin , if we aint careful there 'll be none left .

I live in New Jersey USA now. I lived in the UK for 25 years, between 1961 and 1986. I had an Austin as seen in the video, and traded it for a Wolseley 18/85. Both were relatively comfortable cars to run. They were cheap to fix, and could run through brick walls. They fell short of speed for the motorways. The Wolseley Six solved the problem. By then it was too late, the rice burners were upon us. I still have not forgiven them for Pearl Harbour. I only buy Ford or GM now.

The estate version must be very rare. I saw a mk5 Cortina estate on a low loader the other day. It was obviously used for banger racing. I was disappointed at seeing that.
The banger racing did prove how strong these cars are and they are still sought after for a ride round the oval. But there's a few good ones out there so the brand won't die out just yet.

Any idea of the survival rates of these cars? I used to watch them getting creamed up on the local stock car circuit in the 70s and it didn't matter then, but I hate it happening now. That Westminster with Rostyles is doing a passable impression of a Rover P5. I'm sure I've seen it in Practical Classics driving on the Continent. My dad's uncle Arthur used to have a '65 Cambridge but I didn't see it after 1979. It was oiled up underneath & in good nick. Dads aunt gave it away when Arthur passed!

Good question - we don't know at the mo but you got to be talking of a few hundred now and cars like the Riley 4/72 , MG Magnette and the 6 pot versions are rarer than that. A lot of ex banger boys now own these cars and look after them well - particularly the Westies / Wolseley 6/110's.
Some Westies are fitted with Rostyles and I've seen a set on my Vanden when the original wheels were being repainted. They're not to everyones taste but they look no worse here than on a P5?
