Kiss Cam (One Shot)

I met my boyfriend, Jeremy of 2 years, at a basketball game. My best friend, Miley dragged me along, since she had free tickets. So it shouldn't be a shock that over the years around basketball season, my boyfriend is a total fanatic when it comes to this sport. I haven't been to a professional basketball game since that day I was with Miley and when I met Jeremy. Until today.

Jeremy asked me to accompany him to the NBA Finals game: Miami Heat vs Dallas Mavericks. I mean, why not? He had only begged me like every single freaking day! Then again, I always felt Jeremy put basketball before me, and I wanted to see the hype behind all of it. I especially wanted to see the hype behind these athletic characters, such as Lebron James and Dwayne Wade.

Of course I had to wear my cutest outfit because u never know what celebrities will be in the crowd. I can recall Jeremy asking me before we left, "Babe...really? It's a basketball game. It's called a white out. Everyone should wear white to make the crowd look like we're behind our team ... and you're wearing dark colors?" I placed my hands on my hips and glared at him. "Do you want me to go or not?" He smiled, "Baby, you look beautiful. Let's go." He gave me a kiss on the cheek and we both headed out to the Arena Stadium for the game.

I had to admit, the game was actually exciting. Seeing my boyfriend really get into the game was funny. Thru out the game, particularly during half time or even some timeouts, the announcer would scan the crowd and say things like, "KISSSSS CAAAMMMM!!" in a deep thundering voice echoing thru out the stadium. The large jumbotron screen would zoom in on a random couple, pretty much forcing them to kiss. I wondered how do they know if its not a father/daughter sitting together? How do they know its not a brother/sister sitting together or even just friends? Some people tried their best stating they wouldn't kiss, but the crowd would chant, "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!" Oh my gosh, how embarrassing for them. However, I found myself chanting along with the crowd for these random people to kiss. Jeremy and I laughed about it. I told him I would be too embarrassed to do it in front of these thousands of people.

As I continued to look up at the jumbotron screen, I noticed that Jeremy and I were now the focus. HOLY CRAP! I could hear the announcer say, "KISSSS CAMMM!!"

Jeremy looked over at me with a smile. My face flushed red with embarrassment. I covered my face as I laughed. I then heard the crowd start to chant, "Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!" I looked up and said to myself, what the hell? I started to lean in for the kiss when I saw Jeremy stand up.

The announcer says, "Wait! Before you do anything, Dana..." I gasped as I looked up at the jumbotron wondering how the hell does the announcer know my name? He continued, "Jeremy has something to say to you...." I looked up at Jeremy in shock. Jeremy was staring down at me with a smile on his face. The announcer continued, "Dana, this is for you."

I looked back up at the jumbotron. Jeremy and I were no longer on the screen of the jumbotron. Instead it read in big huge letters and lights: DANA LOVATO, WILL YOU MARRY ME?

I immediately looked at Jeremy who was now on bended knee with a ring box in his hand. He opened the lid of the ring box exposing a beautiful 14K white gold 1carat diamond ring. I brought my hands to my mouth and covered it as if I was preventing anything from flying in since my jaw had dropped open to the floor. Tears immediately formed in my eyes.

I suddenly blocked the entire Arena Stadium out of my sight and hearing. It was quiet. All I could see was Jeremy and hear his words. "Dana, I love you so much. You are my life, my everything. Baby, will you marry me?" I nodded my head rapidly saying yes. Jeremy's smile widened as he gently slid the ring around my finger. I was literally trembling with excitement. I jumped up as he rose to his feet. I shouted loudly, "YES! YES!" As I pulled his face close to my face, I anxiously pressed my lips against his in a kiss.

That's when the crowd, the announcer, and the entire atmosphere I once blocked out, came back into existence. I heard the announcer say, "KISSSS CAAAMMMM!!" as we kissed. I hugged Jeremy's neck and heard the crowd roar into cheer. The people around us cheered saying congratulations. I could hear the crowd say, "Aww!" as they clapped in happiness for us. It was like the whole stadium was in love with us. But not as much as I was in love with my boyfriend...I mean, my fiancé.

The game continued...it was the best basketball game EVER! Now, there's not a basketball game I miss without watching it with him. This may sound corny, but he was clever to include me in what I thought was the love of his life -- basketball...but now, I know Im the love of his life and the sounds of basketball is like our love song.
