Michaela's life and, marriage to John McAreavey were tragically destroyed in Mauritius on January 10th 2011. A senseless act of brutality robbed this Irish Gem of a wonderful and vibrant life. The Tyrone school teacher and daughter of GAA legend Mickey Harte fell victim to a vicious evil gang who have deprived so many of an inspiring beautiful creature and a true gift from God. Rest in Peace Michaela.

  • This is the most tragic story to come out of Ireland in so long - all the doom and gloom about economics and money. We're all still here aren't we? Puts it in perspective. People and love are the most important thing. Utterly heartbreaking. RIP Michaela.

  • R.I.P. Michaela You were The Brightest and Most Beautiful Gem in The Irish Crown. Ireland is a lesser Place for losing You and Heaven is now a More Beautiful Place for Having You There. God Protect You Michaela and all Those Who were Dearest to You. Dáire Ó'Ceallacháin,Cork.

  • so sad. rip michaela xxxx

  • This is simply just the saddest story. A beautiful girl lost in a horrible and tragic way. So heartbreaking for all those that loved her and miss her every day. I never knew Michaela but shes the type of girl I know I would've been very lucky to have known. She was very special I'd say. An angel, always remembered. RIP Michaela

  • Has this been sanctioned by her family?

  • Heartbreakin, gorg girl! Rip michaela.. xx

  • yet another beautiful young life ended .R I P MICHAELA ...

  • Beautiful tribute to a beautiful person. God Bless <3

  • RIP xxx

  • @sting2009

Of course the girl should be laid to rest, I never said she shouldn't. In MY opinion she will never be at rest until the perpetrator/s are convicted. I have a fear like many that the wrong people may be convicted and I believe Micky & John feel the same. And yes the family deserve to be left alone to get back to normality.

  • @CancerIsForWimps If you had been at the funeral and seen the level of emotion and the harrowing time for the families you would not say I was being overdramatic. The press were having a field day. Why shouldn't the poor girl be laid to rest and her family be allowed to get their lifes back to some semblence of normality however difficult? What are you really trying to say?
