This Video introduces the benefits to be had from a circular polarising filter. It covers how and when to use the filter and gives some examples of the many situations where one might be useful.
@schuerzenjaeger Yes, don't use it indoors unless you really need it to cut some reflection, otherwise it doesn't make any difference and it takes away 2 points of light.
@surferboy36O Thanks! I am using a CPL filter for my outdoor shots. Looks more lively and the colors looks more natural. But I'd rather take it off when shooting indoors or low light.
@DanhNguyenster64 No, it doesn't. It may be more noticeable with one white balance than with an other, but you are not reducing the (physical) effect itslef, you are just selecting different parts of the colour spectrum wich will yes change colour contrast. This refering to the sky or daylight situations, but the effect is practicaly non existant when you are dealing with reflexions like from a glass.
@schuerzenjaeger Yes you can! it affects it on the same way as still pictures, mainly richer colours and contrast in sunlight situations and glare reduction against reflective surfaces. Lots of movie scenes are shot with a polarizer.
