Memorial Day Tribute to Gold Star Families - Quinn For Illinois

This weekend, we pause to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their county.

Memorial Day urges us to think about the freedoms we enjoy and the honorable service of our men and women in uniform.

The Governor is a tireless supporter of our servicemembers, veterans and their families.

Pat Quinn championed financial assistance for the families of Illinois National Guard members and reservists called to active duty, and he signed legislation to help veterans transition back into school and the workforce.

As a veteran myself, I'm proud to say that Governor Quinn has attended the funeral of nearly every Illinoisan killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. The respect he demonstrates towards the families of our fallen men and women says a great deal about his character.

So while you welcome the summer season with family and friends this weekend, please take a moment to remember the servicemen and women who have given their lives on our behalf.
