@S01932 Yeah he's right, Linux runs like crap on a lot of VIA based hardware, i have a couple of VIA based netbooks, that will not run correct under Linux cause of the lack of driver support for the video cards.

I love it. How much did it cost you?

How did you get the motherboard to stay in place. I want to do this with a PS3, but don't know how to make standoffs.

hate to break it to you but we made one of these 2 years ago, just didnt post about it. I used Mala frontend. Replaced the led lights with blue ones, painted it black as well. The system ran off windows and to this day barely ever crashes. It plays super, genesis, and nintendo with 6000 games total. We used usb wireless controllers and it hooked with a vga connection.
Took me 3 months to compile the Mala frontend and get the design and layout perfect, was a huge pain but worth it.

@Domonkoss - I know the NES PC concept has been around for quite a while, I had just never seen one before using a Pico ITX board - I've seen Mini-ITX but never pico. I've never messed around with putting a front end on this thing but I would like to some day.

you ever heard of linux? It would run a lot nicer and way newer than windows 2000, plus a computer back port bracket might suit the nes better. Im confused what itx board your using.

@S01932 I originally tried installing Ubuntu, problem was that it lacked support for any acceleration of the VIA chipset so the emulators ran painfully slow. Windows 2000 and XP are nearly identical at their core (not to mention that Windows 2000 runs faster than any more modern OS on an SSD), it runs very efficiently on this rig. I'm using the Pico ITX PX10000G motherboard.
