If duplicate content becomes a fairly large deal then your site may not get crawled as deeply or frequently, AND some of your most important content might not get indexed if too much link equity is wasted on duplicate pages.

  • Hi David

At the least, duplicate content wastes link equity, and has less link equity flowing to each of your pages.

As you split PageRank amongst multiple URLs you don't control which one is ranking better, but each URL only has a fraction of the link equity it would have if the URLs were consolidated. Less link equity means your rankings are worse.

  • You're a legend Aaron! Thanks for the great vids!

  • Great video! Looking forward to viewing the rest today as well. Is duplicate content becoming an even bigger issue to be aware of with a site/blog?
