  • In New York, the purpose of reviewing your deposition transcript is to make sure it's accurate. It is not an opportunity for you to re-create and re-fashion an entire answer that you've already given. Obviously, if you made a mistake, or remember something now that you didn't at the time, then you can make those changes.

    There are some people who simply want to give entirely different answers to questions they were asked, which is not the purpose of reviewing the transcript.

  • When your lawyer sends you a copy of the deposition to go over, is it strictly to address typos? What if you want to clarify, retract, add to, or change something that you said because you recognize in hindsight that it is somewhat innacurate, misleading, etc.?
