Punch list gaffe: Mendota 289 Discusses Lincoln Addition Mistake

Mendota grade school officials catch a mistake with the new Lincoln addition. Superintendent Marcia Burress says while going through punch list items, administrators learned that the new fire alarm system had only been installed in the addition, not throughout the entire building. The problem is, while the entire building would have a one system or another, the additions system would help firefighters better reach a fire. Burress briefed the school board last night, explaining that the fix will cost close to $53,000. That said, only about eight-thousand of that will go into the project because the architect is putting $30,000 of unused funds into the last minute fix. If all goes as planned, workers should have enough time to get the system installed.
