Brian Wilson told Tony Asher about a girl he'd liked in high school named Carol, and Asher responded with "Oh, Carol, I know." But Wilson heard it as "Caroline, no" and dashed off the rest of the song while stoned. truth

and he only can hear out of one ear, shit, and he could create something like this! Incredible!

My Mentor, Brian Wilson inspired me to move into music, and, broadcasting. Played his work for many years, in many Continents, and, still do. Thanks Brian, we came from a similar place.

Brian is a rock and roll Beethoven.....he will never be duplicated

I think this song is about childhood and coming of age, that feel when you realise things don't last forever. I mean the album is a childhood/teenager concept and dealing with growing up. Also the train at the end of the album version could be life flashing by, or childhood flashing by, like the distant noise of a train, the distant memory of a nice childhood gone forever.

Dorothy, wherever you are, it's been more decades than years but I never forgot that special night we shared after our class at Mayfair. Remember Mr. Cooper? This classic song, Caroline No, has always been special to me, as you were. I remember we just "clicked." That's the only way I can put it. I never forgot how it seemed like you knew me so well in such a short time. We met once more, much later by chance at the zoo. I think of you every now and then and of that special night way back when.

Really nice, seldom heard Beach Boys classic.
Yes, me too. But it makes me cry, and that doesn' look too good in the library. I still like most of the songs on your utube anyway,..is that OK?? Am I forgiven??

It is a very sad song indeed. I'm glad that you like most of my uploads. I can't expect everyone to like everything. There is nothing to forgive.

I think that this is a lament about lost love and a relationship that sadly ended. I can certainly identify with it.
