I shot this video after dropping off my clients after at their vacation rental property. My clients spent a full day Wine Tasting and Dining (9:45am - 8:15pm) when we noticed this sobriety checkpoint on Trancas Street in Napa just a few blocks West of the Silverado Trail. We were headed East so we weren't stopped.

I decided to go through the checkpoint on my way home after dropping off my clients get video of the checkpoint. The first thing I notices was the two police vehicles stationed in the dirt opposite the Silverado Trail. I believe these officers were waiting to chase anyone that turned around.

As I drove through the checkpoint I saw one guy getting arrested and placed in the back of a police car. I also saw a processing trailer with a male and female handcuffed. I was waved on so continued filming and saw one male taking a field sobriety test and many other people heading toward the processing trailer.

  • If you were heading south on the Silverado Trail and came to the Stop light on Trancas Road then turned right you would have been forced through the sobriety checkpoint. I googled "Napa Sobriety Checkpoint" when I got home and found out the checkpoint was running from 6:00pm - midnight. They had 4 people under arrest when I drove through at 8:30pm so I bet they picked up a lot of DUI's Saturday evening. I talked to a couple of other drivers that told me Dry Creek set one up a while back.

  • I did a U-Turn about a Kilometer or so before a checkpoint once as I saw a good gas price while driving by (It was late at night as well) a cop chased me alllll the way down from I don't even know where and tried to question me while I was filling up on gas. I had a beer and fully admitted to it, presented my license and where I live up to 0.02 you are scott free if you are over 21 and have full license, he just wasted about an hour of my time and his trying to prove I as drunk.

  • It's so fun to watch these drunks get arrested :)

  • throw the book at em...love it!!!

  • You would think living in the city of wine country it would be ok to drive around with a glass of wine tipping salutes to all you pass on the road lol

  • have a family member as a dui attorney. she says this is nothing more than a money grab in the name of public safety.

  • fucking cops, speak to them in german and address each of them as fuhrer.. soz germans but we english speakers just have to do that sometimes..

  • @Pafoofnik1 I guess. I thought i was being very clear. :-)

  • @Pafoofnik1 I guess. Apparantly, the case you brought up was a rare situation. Obviously, there are different types of checkpoints and they can do certain things depending on the type of checkpoint. But the sobriety checkpoints are set up to find driver's under the influence. Some pull every so many cars over and check out, some just do a quick 10 second questioning of every driver. I was in 1 DUi checkpoint and they just simply asked if you had been drinking.

  • @Oneness100: OK. What you have been trying to say is not what I read in you comment. Fair enough?

  • @Pafoofnik1 That's what i have been tryng to say the whole time. The posting of illegal search and seizure only applies in certain, albiet, rare cases.
