People, this is not Sonic X-Treme. This is actually a prototype of a different game, this game was codenamed "Sonic Mars" and was set for release on the 32X. But due to hardware limitations and the 32X's short lifespan, the project was axed and then reincarnated as Sonic X-Treme.

@MotweraCity the SONG in this video is Stardust Speedway Bad Future from the American Soundtrack IN Sonic CD

@kreeddem Ask Chris Senn on his forum, and he'll confirm it. URL is in the video description.

@spongefan8 Video is released in: 2007
but was done in 1996
-
Nope.. because this is from 2007.

@DevilMaster I realize that, but this concept is what eventually became Sonic Xtreme. (Albeit unreleased) Space Queens was the track used on every add video of that project so I only find it fitting to have that on this Sonic Mars video. (This was pitched as a 32X game first then became Saturn's Xtreme then scrapped altogether)

@aaronjs4 Nope. It's not a game at all. It's a precomputed animation made on an Amiga 3000.

@rockguythirtytwo Because when this pitch demo was made, there was no soundtrack yet. There weren't any levels nor any code either, because nothing of what you see here is running in real time. This was just a precalculated animation, made on an Amiga 3000, to pitch the idea of a 3D Sonic game.
-
Why is the song something from Sonic CD rather than the Space Queens title used to advertise the actual game?
I can't say I'm impressed. I might have been back when 3D was new, but not now. And it's a lot slower than anything Sonic-related should be. I like the idea of a platformer-oriented Sonic game more than a boost-happy one, but there should still be speed, otherwise it may as well be a Gex game or something.

It looks like an unfinished, unpolished version of Sonic 3D Blast.
