2 decades? Hardly. House hit the NYC dance scene in 1984. KW had been around since '73 or so but hadn't become what we know them as until '76 or so. And they were hardly know in the states until '80-'81. 'Trans-Europe Express' can be found in Bambaataa's 'Planet Rock' from '82 which is arguably the seed for House and other styles from the time.

There is a direct line from Kraftwerk to House music.
