@TheLT187 I have played both rugby and American Football. I was raised on AF. The hitting is much harder in AF. The pads are weapons, not protection. I encourage you to hit a scrum sled with and without shoulder pads, if you can get some, and see for yourself.
That said, I enjoyed playing rugby a lot more than I enjoyed football. Fat guys get to run the ball more often in rugby - and EVERYBODY likes that - and the more continuous flow of rugby is better (I think anyway)

I've plyed both. I'd put any pro football lineman up agains't any pro rugby flanker. The lineman wouldn't be able to run the lenght of the field once; any flanker (the positions are comparable) can run for 40 minutes straight. They have to, that's how long a half is. No breaks in the action, no time-outs, nothing of the kind.

Conditioned for 2 different objectives so its hard to say they'll go longer. I didn't see one rugby union player in this video though ;)
