FEC Engine Pace on way home from work. 8:15pm so not to bright, but the camera does well in the dark and it came out ok. Gee this thing didn't even have any bugs on the windshields yet. This particular night my memory card filled 1/2 way through, so I quickly loaded another to finish the ride to the crossing near the local VFW post. Lately I've had a nack for running into the 101 & 102 Engines. Now have them on three clips a fourth a musical of 1 of them.

  • @soundwave000 I'd gotten kind of fond of the Rail America Paints with the blacked out lower area, even the super smoked out windows. Yet I'm with ya about the colors of before. I'd learned about the UP connection with colors but I also liked that paint job because it reminded me of the Chessie System Engine I had years ago while living in OH.

  • @dtunzzlistener oh ok, I live in Saint Lucie County, I see these beauties every day, though I kinda dont like the new paint scheme, but oh well. I much enjoy the pure yellow with blue lettering of the ex up sd40-2s

  • @dtunzzlistener the clicking sound is the system getting water out of the brakes

  • used to live in Hobe sound on top of a dentist office, don;t think it;s there anymore on Beach street, Great video, don't think i have ever seen a brand new unit much less two in actual use!

  • @dtunzzlistener i gotta go there then....

  • @atsf3780 Along Dixie Hwy in Hobe Sound Florida. About 2 hours north of Miami.

  • @dtunzzlistener where'd you film this? Im in citrus county in crystal river next to that florida northern branch that runs to progress Energy power plant. Lots of CSX through power with unit coal trains and occasional short locals with FNORR CF-7s

  • @atsf3780 Had to watch my own video again and noticed yep two 40s near the end were making a bunch of noise. Hope someone can tell us, I've wondered that also. Heard it often, but never from the newer rolling stock like the 70's, so far.

  • @dtunzzlistener i was talking bout the units behind the SD70M-2s. Aren't SD-40-2s? or something like that

  • @atsf3780 There is a pressurized air system that makes the horns and what ever you call the mechanicals that dispense material onto the track directly at each wheel etc. The system bleeds off extra pressure thus the pisst sounds. I have heard some units not SD's so far, but they go by making this random clicking sound that I am curious about. I'd guess a relief valve or something engine related. I don't hear it on this SD.
