You raise a very important point. Post-war West German companies offered all manner of "socialist" benefits to their workers which were deliberately intended to rival those found in East Germany, if not indeed exceed them. These benefits were a major element of West German propaganda throughout the entire era from the late 1950s on, but as you point out, were dismantled as soon as the East German state collapsed. In other words, a giant fraud.

Agree. One book I read recently about global politics and economy is "New Imperialism" by David Harvey. A bit of economy lingo but all-in-all good book.
