My son is at Kingsville NAS right now finishing up his T-45 training. He will be going to the "Mother Ship", or carrier, in about a week. And yes, he's been practicing "touch and go" landings/take-offs, on a short strip on base in order to get ready for the Carrier Qualifications. I don't see how it can possibly be the same, with the carrier doing 20 knotts in 20 foot swells, and the landing strip in Kingsville doing nothing, just sitting there. But let the games begin!

when they bring the T-45s to the carriers the pilots have to do 10 touch and goes. i dont think they even put down the landing gear, because they whip behind the ship and have to land again. i know this cuz my friend just got done flying these in Kingsville, tx and told me all about this.

Tailhook was dropped by pilot to prepare for a trap.
