Is unemployment up or down?

The July unemployment came out of the Labor Department on Friday, and showed unemployment was down. The White House and Obama fans cheered that the stimulus was working.

Two days before, two other studies had a gloomier report. ADP, the payroll processing giant, announced that there were 371,000 fewer jobs in July than in June. ISM, the Institute for Supply Management, showed the services market slowing.

So, two industry watchers say things are sucking wind, but the Obama Administration says their stimulus is working. When Glenn Beck and Bob Basso scream that we're being lied to, it's easy to discount them. Obama's chief spokesman lamented that we're not "civil" in our tone.

Apparently, being misleading with a civil tone is better than telling the truth with a raised voice. Where's John McCain in all this? Where's Mitt Romney? Did every Republican go on an extended vacation?!

So, services are down and the job market is smaller, according to two different industry experts. Unemployment is also down. Maybe we should look to our immigration numbers - are people leaving the country?

Nah, because everywhere else in the world if youre an illegal immigrant, you get put in jail. Here, we give you health insurance!

My much needed benefits were cut at the beginning of the month without warning and money remained in the balance allocated for five more weeks.
